Shepherdess Connections

Welcome to the new Website for our Oregon Conference Shepherdess!

Our first two Bio's are Beth Reimche and Joyce Burkeen. They are the two new Shepherdess Coordinators and they are excited to get to know each of you better.

Here's a little bit about them:

Beth Reimche

Beth was born in British Columbia and grew up in a variety of places across Canada. Her family enjoyed camping in the summers and skating on the lakes in the winters. She still loves to travel and keep in touch with friends from all the places she lived. After attending academy in eastern Canada where both of her parents were staff members, she attended Walla Walla College and graduated with a degree in speech pathology. She works full-time in the Woodburn School District, working with both elementary and high school students. It was at Walla Walla that she met Al, her ‘forever friend.’ Life has taken them many places and through many valleys and hills – some fun and adventurous and some not so much! - but through it all they have been very aware of God’s leading hand and His presence in their lives.

Beth and Al have two married children – Jonathan and his wife Angela, and Jayne and her husband Jason. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, riding her bicycle, motorbiking, walking, birdwatching, time at the coast or in the mountains, and chatting with her friends. One of her favorite Bible verses that just warms her heart when she reads it is Jeremiah 31:3 – “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness. Her prayer for each of you is taken from Ephesians 3:17,18 – “I pray that each of you may grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”

Joyce Burkeen

A native Oregonian, Joyce grew up as a small town girl in Cottage Grove, just south of Eugene. After her high school years, she became acquainted with a bass guitarist in a local garage band.  Within 2 years, Joyce married Chuck Burkeen. A few months after the wedding, Chuck and Joyce gave their lives to Christ and by the fall of 1983, they were headed to Walla Walla College with their 8 ½ month old daughter, Marisa.  After graduating, the Burkeens accepted a call to serve in ministry at the Grants Pass District, where their son, Derek, was born.  Over the years they would also serve in the Lebanon/Sweet Home, Sutherlin/Glide, McMinnville, Gateway and Springfield churches. Joyce has worked in as a Teacher’s Aide for church and public schools, Dental Assistant, Medical Records, Medical Receptionist, Social Service and Pharmacy Technician. She enjoys outdoor activities such as camping, backpacking, hiking, biking, kayaking, photography, volleyball, softball, Facebook, cooking, a good yard sale and having fun with friends and family (especially her two grand-daughters!). She looks forward to serving with Shepherdess and spending time getting to know you all better
